I watched all the. vlogs so many times but I just realized Casey wearing two watches.
gear matters a bit – if you want to shoot very cinematic shots that are, for a large part, just 'cinematic b-roll porn'. which I like a lot. Everyone always rave about 'the story'….. yea, everyone and everything have a story….. story ISN'T everythng. And it' oftentimes very noisy and loud and obnoxious. getting a GOOD cinematic b-roll frames the subject the way you haven't seen or experienced, it creates appreciation, and silence. shut up. just look and appreciate. words can't convey all that much anyway. They're very limiting. and story are words. even a more visual story will, oftentimes, be understood in words by the reciever. but what if you frame that shot in such a manner that you're forced to shut up. even if you wanted to put words to it – you don't want to, because it simply looks too good to confine it to words. THAT'S a cinematic shot. and it's much overlooked (on youtube. Not by actual movie-makers of course, Nolan is awesome with this).
yes yes yes…thank you Casey for an honest opinion on gear. I love your vlogs but thus one is straight up perfect for me. I have been following you as well as others as I am going to be starting my youtube channel soon. I totally agree…it's all about the story. I use this scenario….I have caught over a meter long fish on a $3.00 hand line whilst besides and amongst others who have spent thousands on their fishing gear and still catch nothing. Please keep this information coming as it is very informative, Many Blessing
