I lived as an Aupair in Midtown NYC and took care of to kids aged 6 and 8. We always took the bus and walked to school and back. But I guess even smaller legs than that can get tired more easily, the minute both of them won't be fitting on the same bike anymore! Especially with big backpacks! Biking in Manhattan sound soooo dangerous to me! In Europe we literally drive everywhere by bike, no matter the weather!
